Timothy T. Smith, born in 1969, is an abstract artist and sculptor renowned for his public art installations and abstract sculptures. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design, Smith has been dedicated to exploring the expressive potential and communicative power of abstract forms for over two decades. His work has been exhibited at prestigious venues such as The Post Ranch and Ventana Big Sur galleries, and he has completed numerous private commissions.
Smith's artistry primarily involves working with exotic hardwoods, natural stone, and stainless steel. He is best known for his "cropped skeletal structures," which evoke a sense of direction and movement beyond their physical boundaries. His creative process is diverse, ranging from the use of traditional stone hammers and chisels to fabricating 3D-printed stainless steel sub-structures.
A recent transplant from Venice Beach, California, T.T. Smith now resides in Elkins, Arkansas. He has recently received grants and awards for his sculpture “Manta” at the Walton Art Center, the “Rachis Alarys” sculpture at The Medium Art Center, and the metal wall-scape at the new Wilson Park Auxiliary Hub.
